KOR HOTEL GROUP EXPANDS PRESENCE ON MAYAN RIVIERA
WITH SECOND BEACHFRONT RESIDENTIAL RESORT PROPERTY
-- An exquisite rendition of Kor's distinctive ethos, The Tides Playa del Carmen to debut in 2010 --
Los Angeles, CA - February 2006 (Los Angeles, CA) - Kor Hotel Group, the Los Angeles-based luxury hotel and resort operator, extends its distinctive fusion of imaginative design, exceptional service and exclusive community amenities to a second project on the Mayan Riviera with the creation of The Tides Playa del Carmen. Ground-up construction of this premier, oceanfront residential property is scheduled to commence fall 2006 and set for completion in 2010. The Kor owned and operated property will ultimately be home to an unsurpassed collection of luxury accommodations offered as resort residencies, embedded amidst a wealth of upscale amenities. The site will stand as a sister property to the Viceroy Riviera Maya Resort & Residences, being built within the nearby, exclusive Mayakoba Resort and set for completion in 2008.
"We're excited to be developing another luxury retreat on the Mayan Riviera," said Brad Korzen, CEO of Kor Hotel Group. "Playa del Carmen in particular appeals to a very international, cultured clientele. But presently the area offers no design-savvy properties with high-end amenities that speak to the level of service consumers anticipate. Kor's Tides complex will fulfill just that need."
Like the original Tides in Miami's South Beach - an architectural landmark renowned for its sophisticated yet informal presence along a vibrant beachfront - the Yucatán incarnation promises one-of-a-kind chic by the shore. Located on the largest beachfront property within Playa del Carmen, The Tides will comprise an eight-acre urban retreat in this lively community often referred to as "the style capital of the Riviera Maya." The exclusive enclave will house 190 deftly-designed luxury resort residencies, ranging from 800 to 2,800 square feet and available as studios, one-bedroom, two-bedroom or three-bedroom units. Ninety percent will offer unobstructed ocean views. The resort will also offer a pool with destination bar-lounge, a private Beach Club with fine-dining restaurant and a world-class, 10,000 square-foot spa and fitness center appointed with roof-top treatment rooms. An intimate meeting space will be available for small-scale business functions.
The Tides Playa del Carmen joins with Viceroy Riviera Maya in the Mayakoba Resort development to significantly increase Kor's dynamic presence in Mexico and is part of Kor Hotel Group's overall growth strategy nationally and internationally. With its visionary balance of world-class architecture and design, unparalleled amenities and sophisticated service, The Tides Playa del Carmen promises to transform the Riviera Maya coastline for generations to come.
